Raiders add Vontaze Burfict…. get your popcorn ready folks

Tuesday evening around 8 PM the Raiders announce the signing of Vontaze Burfict. Who cares? A casual fan may think, but this is an interesting, almost shocking sign for Gruden, Mayock, and the Raiders. Burfict spent the last seven years in Cincinnati as a member of the Bengals. Racking up a total of 502 tackles, 7 sacks, 23 passes defensed, 5 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles.

While there’s no doubt he’s a guy who leaves it all on the field, he’s earned quite the reputation for himself as a dirty player, totaling in over 400 thousand dollars in fines, along with several suspensions. Which I don’t hate at all. I’ve been saying for a while now that the Raiders need some attitude back in the Silver and Black, especially on the defensive side of the ball. After signing Burfict was quoted, ” I am not a dirty player. I play a physical position, I can’t go out there playing patty-cake”. Fuck yes, Vontaze. Talk that shit, lets go! Bringing back the Oakland Raiders mystique, I believe, is one of the main goals of now second year head coach, Jon Gruden. As of now, absolutely no one is scared to play the Raiders. They have been a complete joke since Gruden was last coach in 2002. With all that said, I support and like this signing a lot. Where it gets interesting is new super star wide receiver for the Raiders, Antonio “Mr. Big Chest” Brown. If you’re a fan of the NFL you’ll remember this incident I am referring to. On January 9th, 2016 on a bone chilling night in Cincinnati, Vontaze landed his biggest fine to date. This hit in video below cost Burfict $121,000.

So, yeah… awkward signing for Raiders right? WRONG!!!! AB and Burfict have already connected on Instagram and twitter, tweeting ” Just talked to @King55Tez Silver and Black baby #RaiderNation #BullySeason”. Mr. Big Chest also commented on the signing when asked if there was any ill will towards each other, saying, ” We’re on the same team. It’s one goal, it’s all positive, man. He’s a great player… I’m going to approach him just like I do all my other teammates… there’s nothing negative here. We’re on the same team. Trying to win a championship here.” Well said, Big Chest. Move on with that AFC North baby back bullshit. It’s on to real football out in the toughest division in the NFL… AFC West. We have bigger fish to try than a guy who calls himself “Juju”, come on now John, we know that’s not your name, quit playing games. We have Patrick Mahomes to sack, Tyreke Hill to slow down, Von Miller to block. It’s not going to be an easy season but even before the April draft, the Raiders are getting better… and that’s more than they’ve done in recent history. One thing is for sure, this is going to be a wild ass team, and I’m here and ready for it. Get excited Raider Nation, big things are coming sooner than later!
