Week 9 (Lions): aaand we’re back! (4-4) gameday chain 2-2 #RaiderNation #RAIDERS #Lions #NFL

Finally another win, it was a long two weeks of failure. Last week at Houston hurt, Raiders should have won that damn game… but, they didn’t pull it out. I would have been super duper bummed out if they weren’t able to pull it off today, which I was VERY scared there at the end. Luckily Derek Carr came back out firing today. It was the first home game for the Raiders since September 15, 7 straight weeks, including a bye one the road and a trip to London, which is completely ridiculous, as Chucky made it known every single presser he had.

The game started with the Black Hole raging and all the freaks came out to play today at the coliseum. I knew this game was going to be a battle of offenses, considering both defenses are near the bottom of almost all rankings, besides the Raiders being a top 10 team against the run. Their secondary is just pitiful.. It’s really sad to watch sometimes. Luckily, thanks to a fumble on the opening drive for the Lions, and an amazing one handed interception by Darryl Worley (below), the Raiders were able to get 14 points of Detroits’ mistakes.

It’s a good thing they were able to take advantage of the turnovers, because they needed all the help they could get. There’s still absolutely no pash rush whatsoever, which doesn’t help the already terrible secondary… at all. Whenever Stafford had more than 4 seconds to hangout in the pocket, he completed whatever he wanted, for the most part. Every time the Raiders blitzed, he over threw, under threw, and what not even close on some. I’m confused what the Raiders weren’t blitzing more, but whatever, I’m not the coach.

As I (unfortunetly) expected, after the Raiders took the lead, the Lions went right down the field and scored to tie the game at 24-24. After that the Raiders made a few crazy plays, got a little bit lucky on some, I’ll admit. But, they made it work and on third and goal Derek Carr scrambled around and found Hunter Renfrow for the strike in the end zone and the Raiders took a 31-24 lead with just over 2 minutes left. Lions, of course, went right down the field, ended up with third and goal, no time outs and 8 seconds left hurrying to line and the Raiders called a time out. I really couldn’t believe it. I have no idea why you would call that time out, the Lions offense was scrambling just trying to get a play off to attempt to tie the game and Jon Gruden called a time out. I was almost already planning on watching over time, considering how the defense played the rest of the game. Fortunately for the Raiders it worked out, and the play action pass to the back of the ned zone was broken up by Karl Joseph, who had to of known the Lions weren’t actually going to run the ball after a time out, knowing it was 4th down and only 8 seconds left. Phew, another close one. It’s never easy being a Raiders fan, but sooner than later it will be glorious. This team is starting to figure things out. We’re back on track, and play only one more team who at this point is over .500. We still have a chance to turn this season into a playoff run, if the chips fall our way.

Now lets kick the shit out of the Chargers Thursday night!
