Week 1: W!!!!! (1-0) Undefeated Las Vegas Raiders #RaiderNation #NFL

We did it boys, we made it to NFL week one. For a while, all sports looked to be in doubt, but here we are. We are in sports heaven right now, there’s a litter bit of everything going on. NFL being the king of them all, I could not be happier.

There have been a lot of questions surrounding the Raiders leading up to week one. Mostly about their new wide receiving core. Since Tyrell Williams is out for the year on IR, and they planned on starting two rookies Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards. How would they be worked into this complicated Jon Gruden offense? Well, we got our answer pretty quick this after noon! Henry Ruggs was targeted on the second play of the game on a long streak down the field, which fell incomplete, but from there on it was clear he would be targeted early and often. There were all kinds of different plays called specifically for Ruggs. The deep pass, short screens, hand offs, long crossing routes, you name it, you got it. Just before half time Ruggs got banged up, left the game limping then later returned but was not targeted again. It really raises some flags for me that he was never targeted again, makes me think the injury was more serious then they wanted everyone to believe by putting him back onto the field. I guess only time will tell.

The real take aways from this game should be three main points.

  1. Josh Jacobs is better than your favorite running back
  2. Derek Carr is just fine
  3. John Abram is a fucking maniac

Josh Jacobs, man.. where to even begin? This guy is such a beast. His stats didn’t jump off the sheet today, but he just gets the job done. He finished with 25 carries, 93 yards, and 3 touchdowns. The hat trick. Honestly, I willing to bet everything I own this will not be the last time you see a game like this from Josh. This is just going to start being regular for him, he will cement himself in the top backs in the league this season.

All the talk about Mariota replacing Derek and the Raiders drafting a QB, or trading for Dak Prescott or any of that stupid shit, just shut up. SHUT UP! It’s not true, it never was, and it won’t be any time soon. Derek Carr is a dime dropping machine, this guy can’t miss when he’s got guys who go out there, run the right routes and catch the ball. He went out there, threw 22-30 for 239 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 0 Sacks. Just dime after dime. That’s how it’s going to be, if you don’t like it.. then get the hell out of here because shits not changing. Here was his TD pass, and probably the best pass of the game…

Now, the third take away, John Abram. My goodness this guy is a savage. First off, he wears the old long sleeves like the classic look from Old Man Willie Brown. Then he takes his helmet off and dude has orange hair, alright cool. The game starts, and this guy is just flying around looking to take heads off! I can only imagine the excitement he had, after a disappointing rookie season getting hurt in the first game of the 2019 season. It was unfortunate for him, but he’s back and as many have said a “heat seeking missile” when out on the field. He smacked Christian McCaffrey good a few times, the one he brought him down hard and let him know it.

With all that being said, it was of course a roller coaster, as all Raider games are, but we managed to get a win on the road in week one in the first game ever as the Las Vegas Raiders. That’s all that matters. It was tough and gritty, blew a lead, but came back and took what was ours. I love this team already. Coach Gruden said it perfectly after the game, take it away coach…

Until next week, Raider Nation…

JUST WIN BABY!!!!!!!!!!
